CLICK BELOW TO BUY ANTIQUE STYLE DINING CHAIRS!!!
Those who love their antiques really love their antiques. If you own antique dining chairs you adore but are hoping to refurbish them, you should know the process is really not that difficult. Anyone can refurbish antique oak dining chairs and have them looking their best if they are willing to put in the time and effort. There are a few important steps to follow.
First, gather together the supplies and tools required for the job. Drop clothes are helpful, to prevent making a mess on your floor. These can be purchased at any paint or hardware store for just a couple bucks. You will also need some fabric scissors to take off the existing fabric on the antique dining room chairs seats, staples, new fabric of your choice and a staple gun. That is pretty much all you need to get started and then you can get working on the chairs.
Start by removing the existing fabric. Make sure you do not nick any of the surrounding wood, as this will be extremely difficult to repair. Since you are working with antique chairs, it obviously requires more care as they are more delicate.
Once you have removed all fabric, ensure you have all the old staples out as well. This will help when you go to staple on the new fabric to ensure you are not trying to put new staples on old ones.
Now you can get started with the new fabric. Take measurements of the chairs. If the old fabric is in decent enough condition, use them to measure out the size you need for new squares. Lay the chairs upside down one at a time and take each piece of fabric and pull it around to the bottom of the chair. Have the staple gun nearby and as you hold the fabric up taught, fold the corners in together and staple to the bottom of the chair. Continue this, working around with the fabric taking small pieces as you go.
It is essential to keep your fabric perfectly taught but not too tight, so there are no wrinkles in the fabric but not so tight that you risk ripping it when you go to sit down.
Once you make your way around the entire chair and the fabric has been completely stapled all the way around, you are finished and can move on to the next.
If you are interested in changing the colour of the actual antique dining chairs, for instance to match an antique dining table or other dining room furniture, this must be done before reupholstering them. Choose a colour of stain in the shade you like and allow to dry completely before working on the seats.
